Machida City, Tokyo] "Shobu ・ Hydrangea Festival" at Machida Yakushi-ike Park, Shikisai-no-mori

Shobu ・ Hydrangea Festival" will be held at Machida Yakushiike Park Shikisai no Mori, where flower irises and hydrangeas are in full bloom. During the festival, Machida sightseeing guides will give guided tours and flower-picking girls dressed as Saotome (maiden maidens) will take care of the irises.

① Yakushi Pond site
[Hanashoubu open to the public] Location ： Hanashoubu field

About 2,200 flowering irises of 175 varieties including Edo, Higo and Ise types are in full bloom. During the period, flower-picking girls in Saotome costume tend the fields （ twice or three times a week, ending when all the flowers are gone ）. The best time to see the flowers is from early to mid-June.

Machida tourist guides will talk with visitors about the fun of flower iris in an interactive manner.

[Hydrangea Show] Location ： Around the flower iris field and hydrangea garden in Yakushiike Park
About 1,000 hydrangeas of 42 varieties, including Gaku hydrangea and Western hydrangea, are in full bloom. The best time to see them is from mid to late June.
